Three weeks and a day

Why, Hello there, world. Thanks for visiting my new blog.

This shall be the portal through which I communicate with all of my favorite earthlings, and a few strangers, when I launch my rocket ship June 21, 2011 towards Neptune's third moon, in hopes of outrunning the rescheduled Apocalypse.

J/k. This shall actually be the means through which many of my favorite Estadounidenses keep up with my travels and whereabouts while I'm fellowing in Peru with Vittana and Manuela Ramos, high in the Andes, hopefully avoiding sunburn but making lots of friends.

I only have three weeks until I leave for Perú (and one day, but that doesn't really count) and I can't believe I'm about to leave. I still have so much to do! In case you are interested, here is a clip of what the next weeks will look like:

- Finish cleaning out The Cave of Wonders, a.k.a. my mom's storage unit

- Sell a bunch of things from The Cave of Wonders for money. (I hope that scary sand tiger doesn't trap me in the cave for taking things.)

- Transfer Truman to his temporary new home :( :(

- Maybe take Truman to the vet (again) because he doesn't seem to be doing so hot, all of a sudden... :( :( :( (I'm actually really stressed out about this.)

- Sell Cynthia (That's my car, not a friend or someone I picked up on the street.)

- Move out of my apt.

- Pack for 6 months, in one suitcase

- Say "hasta luego" to many, many family and friends

- Um, stay sane

Needless to say, I'm both excited and nervous. Mostly nervous because it's easy to avoid change, but VERY excited because I definitely need some and this is my dream opportunity. From here on out we're going to call this fellowship an "opportunity" because a) We are optimists (is 'op-' Latin for positive?) b) Let's be honest, it's not really a "job" if you're support-raising and c) I'm so excited about it!

I'll try to mix in this blog intelligent bits as well as some attempts at humor, so smart friends, please excuse the informality. (That's you, Dr. Bencivenga.) Everyone, please excuse the bad jokes.
